Text Messaging Systems Are Critical In Emergencies

If there is vital information you need to get distributed to a large group of people, whether that be your employees, your customers, or attendees at a large conference you are hosting, which way do you think is the fastest? You guessed it, by mobile device, and specifically, by text message. Just about everyone has their cell phone within reach these days, and text communication is easy to understand; it’s simple and quickly reviewed at any time.

Email Is Not Reliable

Consider the fact that the average email takes 48 hours to open, and you quickly realize that texting is ideal real-time information in a critical situation. Even worse, a large segment of our population has admitted to checking email only once or twice a week; they don’t use it.

Special consideration is also necessary where a large number of recipients might live in rural communities, or spread out in agricultural areas. There is a chance you could flood the local exchange carrier by pushing too many voice messages, meaning, your batch of voice notification calls may not go through because the local phone service is overwhelmed.

Last year one of our utility customers needed to send an urgent boil water notice. For the above reasons, they opted to push this critical notice out via text message to their community. On average, recipients opened their text in less than 4 minutes.

COVID-19 Corona Virus Alerts

Crises, threats, emergencies- they take place every day. They affect individuals, organizations, communities- and as we discuss the current spread of COVID-19 into the United States, there is a global awareness of a rapidly changing landscape related to the health and safety of millions. These might include:

  • School district notifying parents of school closures
  • Nursing home alerting family that there is a temporary quarantine taking place at the facility
  • Company notifying its employees to work from home
  • Canceled event out of an abundance of caution over the COVID-19 virus
  • Send recipients to an IVR system for more detailed automated messages

Real-time data is not only appreciated, but it may also help to mitigate health and safety issues.

IVR Technology Group can raise awareness and send critical information with Compass Broadcast. It creates and sends text messages to a list of customers, as well as email messages and voice broadcast options. At IVR Technology Group, we make mass communication easy, efficient, and effective.
