Customer Story: Text Messaging Keeps a COVID-19 High Risk Group Well Supplied

With today’s news of an increase in vigilance and restrictions in an attempt to slow the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus, it’s important to take a look at how text messaging, and especially a text broadcasting solution is critical for healthcare companies. And in this case, it’s especially critical for a COVID-19 high-risk group, patients with respiratory illnesses.

Medical Equipment For High-Risk Patients

A nationwide provider of home healthcare services and equipment came to us with a relatively simple, but critical issue. Tens of thousands of customers with respiratory and other specialized medical equipment customers needed to receive important notifications and updates about their devices.

Text Broadcasting For Supplies & Maintenance

After consulting with the customer, and reviewing their customers’ needs, we used the Compass Broadcast Suite to provide a self-serve text message broadcast solution. The messaging kept customers informed of:

  • Periodic maintenance requirements
  • Updates to their devices and equipment
  • Insurance information
  • Equipment resupply information

We also provided a means for customers to use interactive text messaging to order supplies or schedule maintenance easily. The CDC highly recommends that such patients stock up on supplies, and our texting solution is an easy way for them to do just that. And for patients under quarantine, texting to resupply is the obviously easiest way to order.

Automatic Compliance Documentation

Compliance with equipment manufacturers’ requirements for warranty and safety documentation was a primary concern. With the new system in place, compliance requirements are automatically documented with each text message sent.

Critical Supplies During Critical Times

The results are a significant improvement in the efficiency and accuracy of making sure equipment in the field is up to date and well supplied, which resulted in substantial cost savings across the home medical equipment component of their business.
