With the April 15 deadline coming up time is running out for those who have put off filing their taxes, or more appropriately how to pay back taxes. Tax time can be confusing if you have to file a 1099 or more than one W-2 form. Not to mention, the IRS will still not allow people to claim cats as dependents. Fortunately, there are options that will help people submit their returns quickly as well as options so that people can pay them back as well if need be.

Electronic Filing Options

The IRS is encouraging taxpayers to file electronically. This is because a return submitted electronically can be processed much more quickly than a paper one. When the IRS saves time on your return, your refund gets sent to you sooner. It’s easy to see how everyone benefits.

Some companies, like TurboTax and H&R Block, offer mobile apps to help their customers file more efficiently. These apps allow users to keep track of their tax forms, make updates quickly and check on the status of their refunds. One recent innovation is SnapTax by TurboTax. This allows a user to file by taking a picture of their W-2. The IRS also has a mobile app, called IRS2Go. It allows users to keep track of their refunds, find centers that offer free tax preparation and get tax preparation tips.

Even the IRS can find a way to make things, even a little bit, more convenient for taxpayers. Shouldn’t you do the same for your customers? By offering more ways to pay — more than just a standard paper check — they will be more likely to make their payments on time.

An over-the-phone payment system, for example, will allow your customers to make payments and check balances by calling one phone number. Should a customer’s payment due date be quickly approaching, the system will send the customer a SMS message alerting them that their payment is coming due. From this message, your customers can make an immediate payment or connect to a live agent. As the collecting business, you’ll be provided with reports that allow you to see exactly out when and how a payment was made. It’s easy to see how an over-the-phone payment application benefits both your business and your customers.
