Simple IVR Definition (Interactive Voice Response)

An automated telephone information system which provides callers a combination of fixed voice menus and data extracted from databases in real time, 24 hours per day. The caller responds by pressing digits on the telephone keypad or speaking words, which the computer interprets. Most IVR systems reside in PCs equipped with specialized hardware and software which connect the caller to the computer.
